                Security and new features

A growing feature on Cityrail trains is the increase of security cameras on-board Cityrail carriages. The Millennium Train features 6 security cameras per carriage (2 each for the decks and 1 per vestibule), with the images being relayed and recorded to a main security monitor screen in the guard’s compartment. ‘Help-points’ are also located at the carriage vestibules next to the carriage doors.

Many new features on the Millennium Train, not seen in other Cityrail trains, are the introduction of visual destination indicators aboard the carriage. Located on both ends of the vestibule, top and bottom decks of the train, these destination indicators (Similar to ones used on station platforms) display stopping patterns of the service, station arrivals and other important information.

Accompanying these indicators, is an on-board voice announcement system. Similar to automated station announcements, the Millennium Train also features a pleasant female voice audibly announcing items displayed on the destination indicators and also adds in other information and Cityrail announcements.
